Cosplay should not be judged by body image or race. If it would make him more comfortable, he could try one of the alternate colour schemes [link] but this is just a suggestion! I'm sure your buddy will look great no matter which outfit he chooses.

What he's worried about is that he's not really "cut" for Bridget. But he's pretty much built like me. I tell him he's alright with doing it, but he's worried that folks will jump on him for cosplaying a guy that looks like a girl...
Aha, where is he planning on wearing this costume, if I may ask? Conventions, in my experience, are nothing if not open minded places. Cosplayers are people of all ages, sizes, genders, races, etc., and most of them are considerate enough to ignore these factors in favor of appreciating the costume's construction and sharing the love of the character and his/her/their origin. Crossdressing is quite prevalent as well, and I really can't imagine anyone bringing it up in a negative fashion.
